Planting Instructions
Wildflowers are usually planted in the fall months. In colder climates with snowy winters, make sure to plant your seeds when the ground temperature consistently stays below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. In warmer climates, one can either sow their seeds 6-9 weeks before the first frost, ensuring enough time for the wildflowers to germinate and build root systems, or during the dead of winter.
Since wildflowers, particularly the ones we offer, are very adaptable to all circumstances, the location of the wildflowers is fairly unimportant. As long as the soil is not sterile and the location receives about four hours of sunlight per day, you will be successful. However, one should avoid a spot in which water tends to stand for multiple days after heavy rainfall.
Using a rake or a shovel, make sure to remove all existing root systems or weeds and turn the soil to prepare the location for your wildflower seeds. Then, scatter your seeds and compress them into the soil. After the ground temperature reaches 55 degrees Fahrenheit, your wildflower seeds will germinate. However, do not be disappointed if your perennials do not sprout in the first season, as some take two years to come to life.
